My first photo shoot!

My lovely friend will be doing a photo shoot in the next couple of weeks & she asked me to be her stylist! OMG This will also be her first "themed" shoot - one of the ideas is fairies...I'm trying to figure out some different looks for her shoot & this is the 1st inspiration: Tinkerbell. There is a lot of glitter but it didn't really show up well with my iPhone camera. I'm trying out the different ideas on myself first.
But I'm way excited, nervous & EXCITED! Did I mention that? LOL. This weekend I will be creating some other different looks - some theatrical & I will also try to come up with their second theme choice of "the evil queen" in fairy tales.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

DIY Anthropologie inspired headband

I decided that I would have craft night tonight! If you're like me, there's tons of stuff laying that has been collected thinking "oh, I could do that...I'll get around to it" & then you're just overwhelmed with ideas, projects & stuff!
I love headbands! I don't know why, but they're fun! The older I get, the less I like having my hair in my face (my bangs hanging over my eyes growing up drove my parents crazy!)

So the inspiration was Anthropologie's monarch wing headband.

Ta-Da! The second picture is my creation! I found this cool tie at the antique store for 75 cents & had some plain little headbands from Walmart - so approximately $3 total for project :) better than $20 something at retail!
If I can find material with a similar pattern to Anthropologie's I would do another - but this is the first fabric that I came across that caught my eye.

Junk store findings

I ran into a local small antique shop in our town & it's really amazing the stuff people have, collect etc. As I was rummaging through the booths, these vintage hats caught my eye. I just love them! I had to refrain from buying them :(

Inspired looks from Audrey Kitching

When I came across Audrey, I immediately was intrigued. I LOVE her makeup looks & style! So fun, girly, punky & of course a lot of PINK! Over the next couple of weeks I'll be re-creating a lot of her looks that I find inspiring....hopefully I'll get my camera to work so I can post a new video too soon.

Here's the inspiration:

And here's my take:

Red was the only color of wig I had...it's my Jessica Rabbit hair :) I have a pink wig coming soon!

Starting the week off colorful!

I am in LOVE w/ the Urban Decay Gravity eyeshadow from their book of shadows! I used to be scared to wear color (much less just 1 main color) with my monolids, but now I'm embracing my lid type & working with it! Lol

I also threw on my Hello Kitty bow ring & one of my tacky owl rings. I used the Nicki Minaj nail polish to add a little more flare. May your week be just as colorful!

Update on China Glaze nail polish

I have to say I am very disappointed in the Hunger Games China Glaze nail polish - I bought stone cold to test try first. I really like the colors & texture, but it doesn't stay on at all. This is a picture of my nails after a day...

I have to say I won't be buying anymore :(

Walmart Haul - where did my money go?

There are not many places where I live that I can shop - at least for things that I would want. Super Walmart is a BIG deal here & that's pretty much the only multi-purpose place to shop.
I stopped by to see if they had anything I might have been able to use for my Hunger Games inspired looks. I picked up this L'Oreal Double Extend tube w/ lash boosting serum because I liked the one in the red/white tube & figured this one may not be too bad - I'm not really sure I'm excited about this one. One end has the serum that you coat your lashes with first - over time, with continuous use, your lashes will be "boosted"- Look full & all that stuff. Below is a picture of my lashes without any product on - lets give this tube a try & see over the next couple of weeks if it changes any.
I have also been breaking out pretty bad (chin area) which is unusual for me - it could be hormones or the foundation I was currently using...or a mixture of both. But, I figured I could at least address the foundation issue much easier than the hormones - so I also purchased Neutrogena's Skin clearing oil free make up in Nude. I had heard this was actually a decent product & great for combo skin. It applies nicely, not too heavy but you can definitely tell there is coverage, & smells nice. I'm hoping it helps with excess oil on my nose that seems more prominent as the day wears on...
That's it for now!

Hunger Games - District 8 - Textiles makeup look

I saw this done by a girl on YouTube & she did an AMAZING job! This is my first attempt - I may switch it up a bit but I just had to try this ribbon look!

Hunger Games - District 1 - Luxury

This is my interpretation of a makeup look inspired by the Hunger Games. I would love to do a tutorial but I think it would be way too much & it was a lot of trial & error & LOTS of blending. :)

My manic Monday

Not only was I scrambling to finish my taxes (yes, I'm a procrastinator), my house is far from being cleaned, but I just attempted my 1st really artsy look & it was a beat down!
Take 1 of District 8 inspired look from the Hunger games. I now know what types of brushes I need to buy to add to my collection & note to self: make yourself comfy before attempting this look again.
I give kudos to all those who blog everyday & get tutorials up - I'm still trying to balance things around my full time job & personal life. Of course, in a pretty boring person but it's not so easy getting out of a slump.
I really like the 88 Coastal palette & NYX jumbo eye pencil in milk - definitely came in handy. But that wraps up my "blue Monday" - I know, this is just a really random post.

Look what arrived at my home today!!

I know I'm a little late getting this, but I got it for $29.99 vs $64!! I can't wait to try out the colors! I love the packaging except the top will not stay open...so far only downfall.
What's your favorite UD color/palette?

Let the games begin!

I stopped into Sally's on my way home & picked up one of the Hunger Games China glaze polishes. Definitely impressed - it dried so quickly! I have never used China Glaze nail polish before, this has hardeners in it to, so I was pleasantly surprised with the texture. The color I chose was Stone Cold...I wasn't expecting a matte finish, but it's growing on me.
Besides the fact I can't paint my own nails to save my life, here is the color. What would you wear to the opening ceremonies?

Test Drive Tuesday: Sally Hansen Eyelash curlers

I lost my Mary Kay eyelash curlers (so frustrating!) so I picked these bad boys up at our local Walmart. These things are HUGE! I figured they would get me by until I found my others or until I bought another pair. They are definitely going to take sometime for me to get used to them!

Product Review: Mary Kay's TimeWise Even Complexion Mask

Brighten your day with Mary Kay's Even Complexion Mask! These items are becoming more in demand with the ever growing age-fighting products out on the market today - they help reduce uneven skin pigmentation or 'age spots' & the brightening effect makes the skin look for radiant.

The Mary Kay TimeWise Even Complexion Mask is formulated with the patent-pending MelaCEP Brightening Complex, it's the perfect solution for tired & dull skin leaving it moisturized & leaving yourself feeling pampered.

I've been using this item for about a year now & I love it! Facial masks have definitely come a long way since the green, dried & hurts like hell to peel off masks that I remember. Part of the reason I like it is because it feels so light & half the time, the mask does not dry all the way in the time you're suppose to leave it on your face. I feel that it has helped the appearance of my skin & I just love to give myself an at home facial sometimes! LOL

Cobalt blue smokey eye - inspiration from NARS

I decided to get a little crazy & came up with this! I used all MAC products (I haven't accumulated a lot of NARS products even though they are FAB)

Tutorial?
